Seto ware is the first of the six ancient kilns in Japan. It has a long history and is also the origin of Japanese pottery. Seto ware enjoys a high reputation in Japan and is designated as a traditional Japanese handicraft. It is also known as a treasure that only comes from ancient kilns. In Japanese, "Setomono" means ceramics.

Seto ware is a precious handicraft made in imitation of Chinese celadon and Tianmo ware. The development of Seto ware is due to "Seto Toshiro"'s visit to China with Mingquan in the second year of Zhenying (1223). At that time, Toshiro also came to China as Dogen's entourage. Dogen went to Tiantong Mountain, east of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, and studied Zen Buddhism under the guidance of Rujing. Toshiro went to Pingyao Town, Zhejiang Province to learn Chinese pottery making. Later, in the Kamakura period, he introduced Chinese ceramic skills to Japan and was honored as the ancestor of pottery. At that time, Seto ware was the only one of the six ancient kilns that could produce daily pottery such as bottles, cups and bowls with glaze and patterns.

During the Muromachi period, after several generations of pottery craftsmen studied and researched, Seto successfully fired the "Seto Tenmoku", which is now designated as a national treasure by the Japanese government. In 1977, Seto ware was designated as a "Japanese traditional handicraft" by the Japanese government. "Seto Tenmoku" is a Japanese national treasure that has been fired by several generations of pottery craftsmen. It is also known as "a legacy for the future" and has a very high collection value.

Our factory has visited Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan many times to exchange and learn pottery making techniques. After returning to Japan, through the unremitting efforts of the team and many experiments and firings, we finally made "Seto ware" appear in China.
